Transgendered People
Under New York City law, transgendered people are also protected against
workplace discrimination. The law states that no one can be discriminated
against on the basis of gender, where gender is "a person's gender identity, self-
image, appearance, behavior or expression, whether or not that gender
identity, self-image, appearance, behavior or expression is different from that
traditionally associated with the legal sex assigned to that person at birth." In
New York City, transgendered people are entitled to the same workplace rights
as everyone else. More and more, laws are being passed to protect
transgendered people across the country. Click here for a state-by-state map
